There are several new plans to make Gampaha the most environmentally friendly and beautiful district in the island.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that the laws will be strictly enforced against polluters of the district.
He pointed out that if the villages, towns, offices and schools are kept clean, Gampaha can be made the most beautiful district in the country.

It is expected to solicit views of everyone in the launch of this
programme. Some measures will need to be taken to protect the
environment. An effective state mechanism was in place and skilled staff available. It would not be an uphill task, if everyone made a vital contribution to fulfil this task, the Economic Development
Minister added.

The Minister made these statements while speaking at a discussion at the Gampaha District Secretariat. All heads of state establishments of the district attended this discussion related to the development of the Gampaha District.

Minister Felix Perera, Deputy Ministers Pandu Bandaranaike, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Sarana Gunawardena, Sarath Gunaratne, Western Chief
