Newly elected Parliament meets today
The President Mahinda Rajapaksa by virtue of the powers vested in him by Article 70 of the Constitution, dissolved the Parliament with effect from the midnight of the 9th of February 2010.

The President summoned the new Parliament to meet on the 22nd of April 2010. Therefore, the newly elected Parliament of Sri Lanka is
scheduled to meet today.
